Naumati Band and it's history

1st Naumati Baja Gulmi UK’s musical-cultural heritage can be traced to the original naumati baja, played in Nepal since time immemorial.Naumati Baja (literally meaning “nine musical instruments") is a group of nine traditional musical instruments played in Nepal and the Himalayan regions of Sikkim, Darjeeling and Assam. Naumati Baja has its own unique standing in the cultural heritage of Nepal. It is played at special and auspicious occasions, such as marriage ceremonies, victory marches of kings and births of princes. Every occasion has its own music, for example the valour of victories which are played to the hearts of enemies. The music here is an attempt to create the same kind of mystical ambience of the majestic Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. With all our hopes and wishes, please enjoy this music.

Since 2010, 1st Naumati Baja Gulmi UK has been continuing and spreading Nepali cultural heritage in the UK and across the Europe. It is the only Nepali traditional musical band out of Nepal. It is very active in promoting tourism for Nepal by developing curiosity in people to explore Nepal and its culture. We have helped Nepal Embassy in the UK and other countries celebrate various occasions in Nepali royal style. The coming event is not only the live performance but is also the inauguration of our music CD.
